Title: best way for a user to upload [larger] video ?
Post by: iain sherriff on February 07, 2010, 05:18:40 PM
hello.

I want to allow a user to upload video files that need to be FTP'd [I can do this with Batch Upload as Admin but they are too big to load normally].
Although the user is a family member, I don't want to give Admin permissions.
Can I give a usergroup batch add permisions ?

If not what is the easiest way to acheive this ?

Thanks in advance.

An example of the file is in the "Jazz" album here www.isthatagnu.net (http://www.isthatagnu.net)

Giving users the permission to FTP-upload means giving them full control over your webspace. Not a bright idea. No need to be concerned then to give them admin powers in coppermine: they already have full control over your webspace.
That's why the batch-add feature is admin only in coppermine. Your question has been asked and answered many times over already, that's why I won't go into details - please use the forum's search if you want more details, but in the end a simple "no, what you're up to is impossible" should be enough. There are alternative upload mechanisms like XP Publisher (http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#xp) or JUpload (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,53168.0.html) that you should look into instead of FTP uploads.
