Title: One installation, multiple domains?
Post by: edmz on May 25, 2004, 09:14:38 PM
I have 3 domains where I would like to install CPG and trying to minimize the administrative chores I would like to install CPG only once and to share that installation among the 3 domains.

Is this possible ? (I know this can be done with postnuke and since CPG plays nice with it I woner....)

thanks in advance!

If everyone domain usses the same database this should be very easy, if not then it could be a little bit of a problem but you could make a minor change to the config file where it loads one of multiple configs based on the subdomain that the user is looking at.

Exactly the opposite if I read the first request right - you will need three different databases and three different config files to have three different galleries from the same install...

This hasn't been done before but you could just symlink every file to a original install except the config and the album dir

That said I reasonablely assure you that three installs of stable CPG codebase would be easier to maintain than the above hackery

a "barebone" install of coppermine (without the docs folder, with only one language and one theme) will consume much less than 1 MB, so webspace shouldn't be an issue.
