Title: Socialshare Plugin now available (includes facebook and others)
Post by: gtgillis on March 31, 2011, 08:24:19 PM
The Socialshare plugin is now available for Coppermine 1.5.x users.

This plugin is for users that want to share photos on social networking sites. It comes with Facebook and Google bookmarks enabled and 40 more social networking sites to choose from. You can also add new sites that are not on the list. Easy install. Easy to use.

I forgot to include my web site addresses.

This plugin is running on a bridged Geeklog site at:
http://www.sillig.com/coppermine

I also have it installed on a test site at:
http://www.rudebastard.com:8080/coppermine/

The plugin is not running here yet as I am about to upgrade my big bridge site that has 8998 files in 239 albums:

Ive downloaded this and tried to install but I have no clue as to what to do. Ive uploaded all the files within the .zip to the required folders. If I try to overwrite my current index.php then my site doesnt work. I then took the index.php and combined it with my current index.php. I go into my admin page but i dont see this plug in as an installed plug-in. Ive tried uploading the .zip directly to the plug-in manager but get the "The file uploaded is not a plugin package." error message. LOL. I have no clue as to what Im doing but Im at least trying ;-) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I always d/l a plug-in, unzip it on my local machine and then ftp it into the plug-ins folder in the Coppermine directory on my webserver at my ISP. Then I log-in to my Coppermine gallery and go to Configuration - Plug-in Manager. If you do those 2 things you SHOULD see the plug-in in the "Plug-Ins Not Installed" list. To install it, click on the package with green check mark icon. It will install, you might want to re-arrange its order in the installed list and then configure it.

Try all that and then come back if you are still stuck.

Great work! A few issues that will keep me from using it:

Can't add or modify (Was hoping to add Pinterest.com ). I get the Error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: htmlspecialchars_decode() in /usr/local/xxx/vhosts/xxxxxx/webspace/httpdocs/photo/plugins/socialshare/index.php on line 151 (Modified permissions etc. No luck - virtual host issue??)

Doesn't pass validation once installed. (& = '&' ??)

For the FB TITLE it posts "{FB_META_TITLE}" (Could be issue in the Theme I'm using or other plugins installed)

I will check back, and or see if I can correct the validation issues myself.
I will install a tin can heater version of cpg 1.5.20, and run some more tests and post the link.

Anyone else having issues?

Have you installed other plugins? Try removing them.

Yes I have. I had LightBox NotesFor.net (lightbox_notes_for_net): v3.2, Link target (link_target): v1.2 and External tracker (external_tracker): v2.8 installed. I uninstalled those two first and now it seems to work again. And now I tested it with that LightBox-plugin and this socialshare-plugin doesn't work. So problem is with that one.

Thanks in advance.

Did I miss something?

I'm installing from the plugin link and getting ....

Critical Error: "There was an error while processing a database query"

The only thing I can think of is that the plugin didn't install correctly. I have installed it on one of my gallery sites. Here is a link: http://christopher-meloni.org/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lasthits&cat=0&pid=19017#top_display_media .

Try deactivating the plugin and reinstalling the package then reactivate.

Yep,  Tried direct installed with zip file ... nothing.  Deactivated, then uploaded files direct .... still nothing.
It shows in the plugin list.  I get the error when I try and activate.

The same kind of error happens when I activate the OnlineStats on another site I run. I'm sorry I don't have the solution for you.

Thanks for the help in that. But what happens when I do an upgrade from say 15.2.0 to a 15.2.1. Won't I have to re-edit the file?

Great plugin.

My I make a suggestion?

I run CPG behind a firewall with Apache serving as a reverse proxy.  This means the CPG is not really running on http://www.koeppster.net/koepppics.  I noticed in the code you are using HTTP_HOST to get the FQN of the server.  This presents a problem with CPG running behind a proxy because the URL posted on the social site will most likely not be resolvable.  How did I resolve?

Step 1 - Hack the code...New code below (this is in codebase.php at line 222) is now getting SERVER_NAME and not HTTP_HOST
$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] = $superCase->server->getEscaped('SERVER_NAME')

Step 2 - Updated my Apache config for the site running CPG (not the proxy server).  Of HTTP servers will work differently.
ServerName www.koeppster.net
UseCanonicalName On

Voila - Now the plugin will generate a URL to the Proxy Server and not the server running CPG behind the firewall.

Hi
<SHARETITLE> doesn't seem to work.

The URL (whose photo has a title and a description): http://www.test.com/gallery/mostra-novita-0-1218-_Gatto_Natale_2012_2_.html#top

Gives empty strings for the title field:
http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=www.test.com/gallery/mostra-1218-_Gatto_Natale_2012_2_.html&t=

http://www.blogger.com/blog-this.g?n=&u=http://www.test.com/gallery/mostra-1218-_Gatto_Natale_2012_2_.html <--- BLOGGER, made by me, download the attached icon

http://www.google.com/bookmarks/mark?op=edit&bkmk=www.test.com/gallery/mostra-1218-_Gatto_Natale_2012_2_.html&title=&annotation=

http://www.myspace.com/Modules/PostTo/Pages/?u=www.test.com/gallery/mostra-1218-_Gatto_Natale_2012_2_.html&t=

The same things happens in the developer's gallery ( http://www.sillig.com/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=1&pid=2#top_display_media ), so it doesn't seems to be a problem related to my gallery.

Any hints?
Thanks

Woops.
I forgot to say that also <SHARETEXT> gives an empty string.

Furthermore, the share buttons seems to appear only when I roll over them, as shown in the attachments.

<SHARETITLE> doesn't seem to work.

You're right. I noticed the same.

What I did (and I know it's not the best solution, but it's a temporary workaround) is to change the title to the filename.

Edit in codebase.php:

$B['shareurl'] = str_replace('<SHARETITLE>', $A['title'], $B['shareurl']);

to:

$B['shareurl'] = str_replace('<SHARETITLE>', $CURRENT_PIC_DATA['filename'], $B['shareurl']);

$CURRENT_PIC_DATA['title'] didn't work for me.

Hi

This is a great plugin!

I have just one question:

I installed this plugin and added a Pinterest. For me, the link is working perfectly. However for several other people using IE, the Pinterest link is not working. They get a 404.

I have links to Facebook, Twitter and Google also and they work fine for the IE people. Its just the one that I manually added in the field that isn't working for them, yet it works for me in Firefox and Safari. Is there some programming in the "Add" feature that may not be IE friendly?

I uploaded the Pinterest icon to the images folder and formatted the string into the Add field in admin for the plugin. It showed up properly in the list after I added it and all seems well on back end and front end for me.

Seems like IE people are having issues with it.

Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have a fix?

Thanks in advance and God bless.

I uninstalled the plugin, re-install it and also got this error message. When I checked the database with PhpMyAdmin I saw there was still a socialshare map. After I deleted this file I could re-install the plugin without any errors.

One tip is to have one button called "SHARE THIS" so it grabs all the social medias out there, like here > http://www.kristindaily.org/2013/08/meet-kristin-in-las-vegas/

I entered the code http://www.tumblr.com/share/photo?source=<SHAREURL>&t=<SHARETITLE>, but instead appear correctly https://www.tumblr.com/share/photo?source=http://votalatop.altervista.org/displayimage.php?album=179&pid=5997#top_display_media, looks like this https://www.tumblr.com/share/photo?source=votalatop.altervista.org/displayimage.php#top_display_media&t=

Why?

I was able to install this plug-in, and it seems to work...sort of. My problem is my gallery is primarily set up for registered users only. There are some galleries where anyone can see them but most are restricted to registered users only. As long as you are signed into the gallery, the shared picture seems to show on Facebook but it doesn't if not signed in. Is there a way to make the shared pic seen on facebook regardless of whether it's coming from a "registered" album only or is this a loss situation? thanks...

Thanks for the plugin but I'm having trouble adding Instagram to it. Anyone know how to do this? I'm using "https://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=<SHAREURL>&t=<SHARETITLE>" as the URL but it doesn't seem to be working? Also, I'd like to add their icon. Thanks
