I was hoping this would be fixed in the new version. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

This seems to work fine for me.
You need to keep you Coppermine cookies for this function. If you delete your cpg cookies, you will need to log in again.

Please post a test user account, so we can check it in your gallery. Maybe a better description (i.e. when doesn't it recognize you) will also help to locate your problem.
