Title: [solved - ftp error] Batch Add - PB error
Post by: DMcGrew on July 13, 2004, 05:55:53 AM
I've got a weird problem here.  When I add a file that is only 100 KB I get the PB error.  If I upload a file that is only 1 KB then it is OK.  My config setting for "Max size for uploaded files (KB)" is set at the default of 1024.  My server says that I can upload a file that is 10 MB max.  Why am I getting the PB error on the larger files (near 100 KB) and not a small file that is only 1 KB.  It doesn't really make sense to me.  Hopefully someone here can offer some help :)

post a link to your gallery with a test user account (non-admin) with upload privileges. Did you take a look at http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=5841.0 ?

the testuser account has upload privileges, but you haven't specied an album he's allowed to upload to, so I can't test for myself.

Sorry I'm a newbie haha ;)

I just created a test album so you can upload to that one.  Is that what you needed?

no, you have to specify upload permissions for the user group the testuser is in - click "properties" next to the album thumbnail the upload is supposed to go to and set "Visitors can upload" to "yes". For details, please refer to the documentation that comes with coppermine.

I tried to upload a very small pic, but was unable to.

It seems your edit directory has disappeared.  Check it's there, if not, replace it, in the albums folder, and chmodded to the same as the albums folder.

This is fixed in the bugfix version 1.3.1, out in the next couple of days, please ensure you upgrade to prevent it happening again.

You were right.. that folder was missing.  I replaced it but its still not working perfectly.  I can upload a file just fine but the batch add still does not work.

To make sure to tackle one issue at a time, try batch adding a single, known-good file (you could download one from our demo). Please report if this works. If it doesn't, could your provide some screen shots?

The weird thing is that ALL of the pics work when I upload them without the batch add.  Like if I upload them 10 at a time by browsing for them on my computer or doing the URL upload.. that always works.  I can't upload the same pics via the batch add for some reason.  I always get that PB error.  I know the pics in your Demo Gallery will probably work just because they're small enough.  It seems that I can't upload anything over 90 KB with the batch add. If I browse for them or do a URL upload then I can upload a file that is just about any size. What do you need screenshots of?

re screenshots: it might be helpfull to have screenshots of every single step during batch-add, just to make sure there's not an obvious issue there (e.g. "wrong" folder names etc.).

CPG1.3.1 has been released today, I recommend you upgrade, maybe it will fix your issues as wel: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=7965.0

OK, there's little left I could possibly think of:
- try toying with your CHMOD settings (maybe some "strange" CHMODing is required in your case, ask your webhost).
- is php allowed to dynamically create files at all?

As you can see, I'm running out of ideas...

I would like to know why your thumbs are shown as the 'unknown icon'.
Try replacing your showthumb.php.

Also please attach one of these images here.

Wow now this is weird.  I went to the directory that has the images I want to upload.  All of them show up as a red X even when I open them outside of Coppermine.  If I download them from my FTP I can't even open them in Photoshop.  Here's where the images are ULed. http://www.dustinmcgrew.com/coppermine/albums/daytona2004/
