Used upgrader.php to upgrade from 1.5.46 but when I delete the "x" from "gallery is offline" and click "save new configuration" nothing happens.
Then just tried changing theme to curve and "save new configuration" still does nothing.

Just shows the standard offline page.
Any ideas?
Maybe try disabling some plugins?
Not much to disable, think I'll restore the old version and give it another try after removing my old theme. Shouldn't take too long to get back to the old working version.
1.5.46 re-installed and working. I can knock that offline and put it back on again. I had an old theme with vertical thumbnail strip, will remove that. I did uninstall the 3 plugins earlier and checked for the latest versions before re-installing.
Will try again and pay more attention this time.....
Same as before, won't go back online.
I used upgrader 2.2 from the upgrade topic.
There was a message about mysql deprecated and recommending MYSQL1 do I accepted that.
Versioncheck showed 24 possible errors.
My vertical theme strip folder had been removed from themes and 3 plugins uninstalled before attempting the upgrade
Sorry about my typing error meant "so" not "do", as in - so accepted MYSQL1.
Can you PM me an admin login?

Thanks, be interesting to know what the problem was.
The issue was a web browser form validation issue. The web browser itself (not any code that we've written) tries to validate the fields of the form. Any that it doesn't like, it highlights the field and gives you a message. Your max upload size value was something that it didn't like. But, because that field wasn't visible, it couldn't tell you about it. It could only leave an error message in the web browser console. I gave the field a valid value and hit 'save'.
I was in a rush yesterday and couldn't take time to fully analyze what was wrong with the field value. Do you have a backup of the database prior to upgrade where you could look at what the value was? It would be in the config table -> max_upl_size.
I do have a backup, but not sure how to view the contents of it, it's a .sql.gz file. Is there any way to open it? I've only ever viewed such files when actually in use with host.
A search suggests winzip, but on my pc it says winzip expired, any other suggestions?
PM'ed you. You can send it to me, if you're comfortable with that.
Would you believe another test 1.5.46 gallery has hung the same way as that one you corrected for me recently. File size on this was probably 300K or so as well.
Are may people upgrading using upgrader?
Sharpo
Just had a look at the database on this gallery as it is now after upgrading to 1.6.04 and the entry you referred to before as below...
I'm learning!!!!
After what you said about file size, I checked config and the figure was highlighted in red. Seems it has to be 296 or 304, so changed it to 304 and managed to update and get it back online.
PANIC OVER!!!!!
Sorry for your difficulties. It's not the upgrader causing the problem, though.
We will work at solving/fixing this sort of issue with the configuration form as soon as possible.
