I made a grave error and now have thousands of empty files (description but no photo).
My gallery was created circa 2008, has 24 albums and over 80k photos.
With a few exceptions, I can delete the files one-by-one.
I am not a tech person and am looking for someone willing to be paid to help fix this.
Here is a picture of the result after error
I looked at your gallery and quite a number of the photos actually exist .. it's just that the thumbnail/intermediate image is missing. If you look at the admin tools, there is one that lets you regenerate those missing thumbnails.
Similar to plugins, new admin tools can be added in a fairly simple manner. I'll try to find some time soon to create an add-on tool to delete 'broken' photos.
Thank you so much. I do not know how to work in the "background." i.e., plugins and such. I will give "Admin Tools" a twirl. Thanks again.
It looks like you have recovered most of your photos. Do you still need a tool to remove broken ones?
As far as I can tell, I have not made it through Albums 1 and 2 of the Twills using the recovery process (literally six hours several times), where I think the majority of photos are. I could be wrong. I run into a critical error when I try to delete an empty file manually, so I guess I still need help, if it is not too much trouble.
I finally received a message that Album 1 was completed. I'm still trying to get through Album 2. I have gone through all other albums. Thank you for following up with me.
Unzip the attachment and place the del_broken folder into your gallery's tools folder. That should add a new option to your admin tools that will allow you to delete broken (missing) photos.
Thank you. I will try in the morning.
Sorry, I can't figure this out. The attachment downloads to my computer as a txt file. There isn't a folder to Extract All. And I don't know what my gallery's tool folder is. Is that the Admin Tools?
To unzip, simply remove the .txt part of the filename first and accept in windows that it will change they type of file. Then you can unzip the archive. I have done that part for you and attached the zip version
In your gallery file structure there is a directory called tools. So you will need to use either your hostings cpanel or an ftp tool to access that and upload the file. It cannot be done from within the gallery interface.

Hmmm .. why did I do that? It's been a while, I guess. ???

I still have credentials that you gave me for your GoDaddy account but they didn't seem to work now. If I had been able to log in there, I would have placed the tool for you.
I moved from GoDaddy to Siteground. We would have to be online at the same time to get you in. I don't remember you having to get into my host for gallery work. I will send it to you privately.
Just saw this. Thank you.

My huge self-made error has been resolved. Thank you to ron4mac and phill104 for working with me.
