Title: problem new install coppemine
Post by: TheTies on August 02, 2004, 02:19:37 PM
Unfortunaly, my host had switched to a new server and had deleted my databases. I don't have a backup of it.

The name of the (new) database is changed. Therefore, I deleted the 'include/install.lock' file en changed the settings in the 'include/config.inc.php' file. Now, when I try to connect to the site, I get this error message:

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Access denied for user: 'fcknudde@localhost' (Using password: YES)

The problem is, that 'fcknudde' isn't my username anymore! I changed the name in the file to 'mentz_knudde'. How is it possible that coppermine tries to login with my old username? Do I have to change other files than 'config.inc.php'?

And why do get this error message even when I deleted the 'include/install.lock' file when I load install.php? :

The installer has already been run successfuly once and is now locked.

If you want to run the installer again, you first need to delete the 'include/install.lock' file that was created in the directory where you put Coppermine. You can do this with any FTP program.

Maybe you guys could help me.

Tnx in advance

sounds like you're still connecting to your old website with ftp - if changes to the file include/config.inc.php don't show any effect. Make sure you're editing the proper file. The same thing applies to the install.lock file as well. Ask your webhost what ftp settings you need for the new server.

If your domain name is the same but the server is different you might have to wait 24-48 hours for DNS propagation.

tnx for the reply's. The problem is solved now. I mailed my host about it and they came to the conclusion that it was there fault. I do not exactly know what the problem was, but it's solved, so I'm happy  ;D

Tnx again
