Title: when batch uploading : a limit to the number of pictures processed ?
Post by: kiig on August 14, 2004, 06:36:13 PM
Running Coppermine 1.2.1, - and the batch upload feature *works*. Nothing related to permissions or similar, - but I usually throw a lot of files on my webserver via ftp, - right now : 192 pictures to be uploaded.
Only 24 (sometimes 23, - sometimes 25, - I think) of them get's processed, - then the scripts stops, - and instead of showing OK icons (like on the 24 first pictures), - the rest are 'broken'.

Then I just do it again, -the first 24 files are allready in there and have no checkmarks, - so I just choose to batchupload again. Once again, - 24 more pictures are processed until the script stops.

Where is this limit ? I've looked through the forum and have change Max_execution_time in php (tripled it, - though I don't get exceeded errors), - but it's the same number of files that get's uploaded and processed correctly.

It's not a problem, - I just do again and again until no more pictures needs uploading, - I'm just curious.

When I click on one of the broken icons, - it takes some seconds and then it shows me the Ok icon in a otherwise blank windows, - and both intermediate and thumbnail file has been generated.

Neither 1.2 or 1.4 are currently supported. Use 1.3.x if you require support.

I'm sure 1.2.1 was supported at the time of my original question... .-)

But Mark1491 : I'm sure it's a 'time-limit' that somewhow kicks in, - if I resize my images to somethng 'small' I can batch upload a higher number of files, - compared to the original sized images. There is a hack somewhere that only shows the 'missing' files in the list when you batch upload 'again' (because it failed after xx images the first time) but other than that I think we just need to accept this 'problem'.

I don't think it's Coppermine causing the problems actually, - more the webserver/browser time-outs. If you get a fast machine with fast discs, - you'll be able to upload a higher number of files before it stops, - but as I stated more than a year ago : I just do it 'again' until all images are processed, - and for me that's not a problem.( I have uploadet aprox. 10.000 images to my different Coppermine galleries since last august....)
