Title: Pictures that are 1 MB
Post by: strokesfan on August 18, 2004, 01:15:50 AM
I want to upload pictures over 1 MB, what should i change this to:

Max size for uploaded pictures (KB)

Max width or height for uploaded pictures (pixels) (Most of them are under 2000 so it doesnt matter there)

Thanks for any help in advance!

urm, 1 MB is 1000 KB, so if you want your limit to be 1.2 MB, type "1200" into the field. The max width should be set to something that can be dsiplayed on people's monitors, most go for values from 400 to 800 (depending on the theme you use).
Bear in mind that there might be size limits set up on your server - setting up higher values in coppermine is just wishfull thinking; if your server is set up to allow 1 MB uploads max, setting coppermine to accept 2 MB uploads will just result in error messages from your server instead of coppermine once a large file is uploaded.

P.S. I recommend upgrading to cpg1.3.2 anyway - it won't cure filesizes for you, but fixes some other issues of cpg1.2.x and has more features

ooh the newest version of coppermine didnt work on the server so i used this one. I put in 4028 but it still doesn't work. Do you know how to fix the server so that I can upload these pictures? It won't even let me upload pictures that are only 328 kb and it's a pain having to go and resize all the pictures as my gallery has 10,000 pictures :/

Thanks for your help :)

As I tried to explain: this is not related to which coppermine version you use, instead it's a restriction on your server. Check the sticky threads on the cpg1.3 uploads board (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?board=22.0) to find out more, or search the board.

I asked my host and we don't have any server restrictions.

I think this may be the problem:

There's a maximum limit set up in the PHP config of your server. If you're with a webhost there's little you can do, but if you're running your own server, check php.ini and look for LimitRequestBody - this value (in bytes) in the max upload allowed by php/html

But I'm not sure what or where the php.ini is.

if you're wbehosted, you don't have access to php.ini
Those server issues (php.ini and apache.conf) are being discussed on the stciky threads in the cpg1.3 support board, sub-board "uploads".
Not related to coppermine.
Bottom line is: you can't change it, you will have to live with what you have.
