I am in dire need of someone who would be willing to take a few minutes of their time and setup Imagemagick and GD2 for me. I have coppermine installed via fantastico and I also did it manually but neither Imagemagick or GD2 seem to be installed nor do they look easy to do for me. Would someone be willing to do this for me? I will provide you with whatever you need to perform this task (ie: shell access). I will provide some free webhosting for whoever would be willing to do this.

You can only install GD if you the server is actually yours to administer, ImageMagick can theoretically be installed with shell access without being admin (root). You're strongly recommended not to use the fantastico build, since it is known to contain bugs. Use the most recent standalone release cpg1.3.2 instead.
You will only need either GD or ImageMagick, not both. If the server is yours to administer, I recommend using the most recent stable package of php, it comes bundled with GD2. I suggest you take a look first if you actually have GD, take a look at http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/faq.php#VersionGD
If you're not self-hosted, but webhosted, ask your webhost for support.
Requesting support by email is not a very good idea, it defeats the purpose of a support board :-\\

I have two Coppermine sites --- one is the slightly older version, and the second is the latest version. They have separate hosting accounts, but are hosted by the same hosting company. One is at http://guernseycattle.com/copper/index.php (the older Coppermine version) and the second is at http://www.bull-terrier.org.uk/copper/ (the newest Coppermine version).
Both have worked just fine until yesterday. When I try to upload photographs at either of the two Coppermine sites, I now get the error message:
PHP running on your server does not support the GD image library, check with your webhost if ImageMagick is installed
I have contacted our server administrator to see if they've changed something. We certainly haven't changed anything ourselves. Just so I understand what I'm doing (at least a little bit), is this error message the probable result of something, like PHP, being changed by our hosting company? What do I need to ask them to do, specifically, to correct this problem? I'm afraid that if I'm wishy-washy with them because I don't know what I'm asking, this will drag on and on for weeks.

Log in as admin, admin tools, phpinfo. Search the section "GD module" and post the content (if there is any). For details, atke a look at http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/faq.php#VersionGD
If you don't have GD support at all, they probably made a boo when upgrading the php version on your server. If phpinfo says GD is there, this has to be looked into further. Before asking your webhost for support, make sure the error is not caused by something unrelated (e.g. if you try to upload a broken pic), so I suggest testing this with a known-good pic with low resolution and filesize.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have followed the instructions and have uploaded a info.php file. I've attached the results in PDF format. I've looked up and down the attachment for "GD" --- and have used the "find" facility for the page --- but can't locate it.
Does that mean that they have, in fact, made the bo bo and need to install something more? If so, can you please let me know specifically what I need to ask them to do? I've found that with hosting support they often need clear, concise instructions --- and if I don't know what I'm talking about (hey, what's new?) that's often difficult.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, Craig. Still a little busy working on the house.
Anyway, your host didn't compile PHP with GD support. Just tell them that you need GD and they'll know what to do. If they make a fuss about it, tell them you need ImageMagick installed (which doesn't require a recompile of PHP) and ask for the path to the binaries (it'll be something along the lines of /usr/local/bin/).

Thanks for the information about PHP and our internet host. I've forwarded your comments to the hosting company, and hope that they will resolve it soon. I note they did something with PHP on September 19. How nice of them to do this --- without telling me, or warning me.
I'll keep after them, and hopefully they'll fix this shortly.
