Title: "The previous file could not be placed"
Post by: EliteRides on September 10, 2004, 05:49:32 AM
Since I upgraded to the latest version everything has worked fine.  I guess nobody has uploaded any new images until now and they get:

The previous file could not be placed
You have successfully placed all the files

The only thing I can think of is that the albums/edit directory wasn't there so I created it and added the index file.  What else could be wrong or could I try?

Thanks!

There's actually a problem before that: After selecting the image to upload and clicking Continue, it says 1 file uploaded.  On the next screen, the image is broken, meaning that there's a problem during the upload process.

Did you upload all the new files when you upgraded?  You can run versioncheck.php to see if you uploaded everything.

Have you tried switching to the default theme and attempting an upload?

I have tried the default theme and I run into the same issue.

I did upload all the new files.  I need to take back the comment of it happening after the upgrade.  I do remember someone creating a new gallery and uploading files to it.  What else may cause this?  Is the initial broken image/not loading the cause of the final result text?

I can confirm your report.

Try going into the groups manager, and set 'Upload form configuration' to single file upload only, and see if you can then upload successfully.

I have this problem as well and I have seen that the filename in the preview of the uploaded picture differs from the actual filename in the albums/edit folder. In my last example it looked like this:

Image Preview Filename: preview_55bb2c4f.jpg
Folder Filename: mURI_temp_0e80c337.jpg

And the same thing happens when I try choosing a file from my computer, only differens is the file gets something like this:  mHTTP_temp_53802101.jpg

Hope this helps

**EDIT**

My imagemagic path was wrong, that fixed it for me!

Hi all,

I'm new to CPG, but had no problem gettting it to work on my local server. Since uploading it to my hosts server I can't add any images to the albums. It keeps saying:

The previous file could not be placed.
You have successully placed all files.

Here's the debug code:

In the 'edit' folder I've got the following files:

index.html
mHTTP_temp_3ae62a69.jpg
mHTTP_temp_635c1618.jpg
mHTTP_temp_c8a7107d.jpg
preview_0ce6b728.jpg
preview_9fbe8edc.jpg
preview_a9bc7832.jpg

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet?

The app is running on Windows 2003 Server (IIS6) using GD Library, not ImageMagik.

Thanks in advance.

ok - i did a bit of reading through the forum and tried something out:

i allowed only single-uploads for the users and that has worked. multiple uploads is a no-no.

has anyone else found this problem? if so, did you find a solution?

You can use multiple file uploads.  Just set it to multiple file uploads only, and you will be fine.

for details, post a link and non-admin test user account with upload privileges. How are we suppossed to help if we can't take a look at the actual issue?
