Hi. I am new to Coppermine and really like the software but am having a MAJOR problem that seems to only happen when I start batch uploads and not all the time.

Coppermine 1.3.3 was installed on my site through Fantastico. I only have the admin account and no others. I do not plan on using user accounts I just want images.

I created my own directories under the albums directory as instructed. At first, I started doing batch uploads and there was no problem. I added photos with no issues at all. But they were small albums.

Now, I have one album that I want to batch upload about 20 (approx) images. When I click on Batch and then choose the directory, it starts to bring up the page with the thumbnails and checkboxes to add them to the album, but part way down the page, I get broken images, and broken parts of the website.

If I click on "Insert Selected Files", I get a "403" forbidden error. Then, after that, the entire application becomes useless. If I click on the back button, and then try any other part of the coppermine software, I get the same 403 forbidden error. When it doesn't generate this error, I get a broken web page. The theme is totally off with broken images and text everywhere.

This is NOT a permissions issue on the *nix side because even the main gallery URL gets broken when I try to access it after having attempted the batch upload.

If I close the browser window, and return, everything is fine. No broken images, no broken pages, but no uploaded files to the new album. It CANNOT be a permissions issue on the unix side because it works other times. It is not a user permissions issue because I am using the admin account coppermine created for me through the fantastico install.

This issue of 403 does not come up any other time. It only starts to show up AFTER I try to do a batch insert.

I also thought it might be related to the theme I am using and changed it. This did not help either.

The problem exists regardless of which browser I use.

The problem seems to fix itself if I closer that browser and open a new one. I return to a URL which just moments ago gave me 403, and it works.

I am not using ImageMagick, I am using GD v2 instead. GD is installed on my webhost and I did a phpinfo() to verify it was installed and working.

I just did another batch, and this one was fine. Only 10 images being submitted. It seems that if it is more, it bombs.

I am going to try submissions of smaller amounts for now. If I cannot find a solution I will use the Rogers galleries which suck and I REALLY like the look and feel of Coppermine but desparately would like some help with this.

I cannot give out any test accounts for this because this is an admin issue.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Matt

Looks like you are running into timeout issues with your host.  You may have to limit yourself to 10 images at a time.  I have batch added a lot more than 20 files at a time without problems, which just shows how one server differs from another.  You should review the FAQ and search the boards for batch add issues - you may find some helpful information.
