2 files uploaded successfully then blank screen

I have Yahoo as my webhost.  When I created a tmp folder I was able to load small files.  But with larger files I get the following message: "2 uploads were successful.Please click 'Continue' to add the files to albums."  However, when I click on Continue I get a blank screen.  My upload size config is 5,000 (as an admin) and both pictures were under this size. 

When I try 1 picture at 1 meg I get the blank screen as described above.  If I shrink it to 58 kb it loads fine. 

I see previous post saying it could be an issue with my web provider.  Below is Yahoos response.  Is the image rendering the problem ?

Dear Yahoo! Customer,

Please note by default the memory_limit is set to 8MB in php.ini.  If
your PHP script is using any image rendering, then the total size may be
over the 8MB limit.  Unfortunately, we have no plan to increase that
limit at Yahoo! Web Hosting this time.

nothing you can do then except looking for a new webhost if you plan to upload larger pics. 8 MB memory is very little.
