SORTING of albums not ARRANGING!

Hi, I have searched this forum already for my solution but couldn't find it. The wording on the FAQs is the not the very best so here is my Question. Please advise what the solution for this would be:

On my gallery, I have various categories that have various albums. I'd like to SORT the albums such that the latest album shows on the first page. Currently, by default the latest album is  on page 8 (last page) and I can't seem to reverse this.

Now, I know you can go to Albums > and using the ^ button I can bring the album to the top. However, this is very ineffective as it changes the ID of the album and my links from other pages get invalidated.

What code do I change and where do I change it... to have the PHP script (Example: www.domain.com/photos/index.php?cat=5) to display the latest album first and the oldest on the last page.
