installing coppermine, no access to ImageMagick

 Hello,

I am having problems installing because of Imagemagick. My web hosts are having a go and this was the message:

<snip>The installer found the ImageMagick 'convert' program in  '/home/virtual/site76/fst/usr/bin/', however it can't be executed by the
script.</snip>

We are switching to GD instead. Can anyone suggest a solution to this. Thanks very much indeed.

• If GD works for you, why bother? Just use it and be glad, ImageMagick has no real advantage
  
• If ImageMagick's convert executable can't run run, you (or your webhost) has to change permissions
  
• This board is not exactly the best place to look for help on server setup (and ImageMagick definitely is a server setup issue). Your webhost should know what to do. If they don't know, find another webhost - they don't seem to know what they're doing
  
• This has been asked and answered very often already. Next time, search the board before posting.

Please note, this is a steep learning curve for some of us. I didn't know that Imagemagick was a server issue. I know now. Please there is no need to be rude - I apologise if this has been posted several times - I did post something saying how useful this forum was. Some of us are really new to this and are at the beginning, feeling our way, so we might make mistakes.

I didn't mean to be rude (and if it looks to you as if I was, then please accept my apologies). Please consider that English is not my first language, so the subtle difference between rude and polite language is hard for me to detect.
Please keep in mind that being new to all this doesn't mean that you could post any question; supporters are reluctant to answer the same questions over and over again, that's why the answer gets short and may appear rude to you. After all, coppermine is a web gallery app that is meant for people who run a site of their own, so a bit of basic understanding how the web works (with the possibility to search and the need to read FAQs and docs before posting redundant questions) should be a pre-requisite.
After all, you have got an answer that made you understand what you didn't know before ;-)
