Hi, I just DLed Coppermine, and I uploaded it to my website using SmartFTP. I am having problems getting any farther than that, however. I tried to install it, using the install.php file. I DLed PHP 4.4.0, although, I don't really understand how to use it. I know I must sound like a real newbie, and the truth is I am. Can anyone help me? I bought extra webspace to use this, and I'm getting really nervous I won't be able to use it :(.

Does your webhost provide PHP already? You won't be able to install it yourself unless you have a dedicated server.

I have Geocities as a webhost, I know you can upload PHP files to it, but When I tried to look at the install file, it says I wasn't authorized to view it  :-\\

Try renaming install.php to setmeup.php and browse to the file.

I'm not sure geocities is PHP-empowered. Try browsing the index.php file. If you get the same error message (and not a scren that says you're being redirected), then you simply can't use coppermine on geocities. Another thing to consider: you'll need a mySQL database as well. Please check the minimum requirements for coppermine.
