Hi,

having used this forum to successfully fix all my issues in the past without having to post i now need advice or guidance as to what i am doing wrong.

I have had CPG1.3 installed and running all year, pics are fine and everything is great, however, when i (and others) try and click the videos, they dont play in the browser.
I have tested with both FireFox and IE and on about 8 different machines still no video, plus the gallery users have the same problem.

Am i doing something wrong, what causes this, i have, when first installing it seen it work, but now it doesn't. I have scoured the site looking for clues and now come cap in hand.

the site is www.centralplayaz.com/gallery/index.php  and i would really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks in advance

Robin

Works for me, probably down to browser setup.

you're running cpg1.3.3 - upgrade to cpg1.3.5 (probably not related to your issue though)

Mack_Daddy

Thanks for taking the time to check out my problem, i will try and upgrade asap, however, i am using standard browser settings and still can't get the videos to play.

But appreciate  the time you guys took to check it out for me.

Regards

"standard browser" doesn't mean anything: the browser itself can't dsiplay videos, it uses plugin instead (at least that's what the Mozilla people call it, Microsoft calls it "ActiveX Controls"). However, those are separate programs (like the Windows media player) - they determine if a movie can be displayed embedded into your browser. Bottom line: unless you "tell" your browser to play videos by installing and configuring your plugins, you won't see any videos. This is not related to coppermine at all.

checked that too... and the first thing before troubleshooting inline video is trying to download or viewing the movie in a standard player.
I'll take that as an example http://www.centralplayaz.com/gallery/albums/central_ftp/WakeMK_short512.wmv
copy and paste it into your browser and/ or movie player -> forbidden error

Mack_Daddy

Ok so does that mean i have a permission error to do with that folder that is not allowing the reading of that directory.

this is the directory i upload to to use the batch add mechanism (which works fine by the way).

check file permissions... min 644 and owner (is www group, particularly apache allowed to view your files)

Mack_Daddy

Ok I have altered the permissions and if i use the URL posted earlier it loads in WMedia Player, but still doesn't play in the browser, will continue to investigate the permissions.

Thanks for taking the time

Mack_Daddy

OK i have changed them all to 777 and still no joy :-(

Stramm

ask the PoundHost guys, they should know. I still can't view that movies without having a look at the directory first. So nothing changed for me

Mack_Daddy

Ok you should be able to run the movie from the URL

http://www.centralplayaz.com/gallery/albums/central_ftp/WakeMK_short.wmv

Checked all plugins on both Firefox and IE exist and i am able to run movies from other sites (WMP and QT)

Still no show thru the gallery  :-(

All the best

You don't have permission to access /gallery/albums/central_ftp/WakeMK_short.wmv on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thanks again for checking it out.

One thing seems to be that the web server doesn't seem to like .wmv's although i have had the one movie pop up in WMP and set the mime type for wmv files. i had lodged a support call with my host and all the files and folders are 755 permissions now(host support recommendation)

I really do appreciate your efforts.

Thanks and regards
