I have a big gallery, currently with 4images. I have set up a coppermine gallery now, and want to transfer all the images from the 4images gallery to coppermine. However, I would prefer not to ask all of the artists who have uploaded pics to re-upload their artwork themselves. I hope I can upload everything, and then go in and change the username credit to the original artist, so they get credit for their own art. I have bridged the gallery to work with vBulletin 3.0x.

Old Gallery: http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/ (will eventually be removed/deleted)
New: http://www.snitchseeker.com/coppermine/ (URL will eventually be changed to the above)

I hope you can see why it is important that I am able to do this.

Thanks! :)

How about using a 4images converter? Here's one: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=3707.0 You should keep searching to see if there's a version for 1.4. But now I see you have files in your coppermine gallery already so I guess that's not an option.

You can use a database editor like phpmyadmin to change the username.

Thanks Tranz,

I was hoping there was an easier way then hacking into the database. I have no problem doing that, but my admins (who will be doing the task) will not dare to do it that way.

I should think there would be a way within the admin tools to do it - like there was/is with 4images. But since there doesn't seem to be, I guess I am stuck doing it the dirty way. :(

Thanks again for your reply none the less. :)

I'd also like to know if this can be done please.

I batch-uploaded hundreds of files for a friend via my admin usrname and I'd like to change them to his username as 'uploaded by'.

Apparantly this is not a feature Coppermine offers (yet).

I hope that future versions will incorporate such a feature as it is certainly highly desired by all users of bigger galleries.

If anybody comes up with a way to hack such a feature into the admin system please post it here or send me a PM or mail.

Thanks! :)

it should be pretty easy to come up with a small query to be run in phpMyAdmin or similar to change ownership of pics - that's what I did when submissions to the "artists wanted" competition didn't work for some users: I added them as gallery admin using batch-add and then changed ownership.
