Just finished my site and I was going thru the configuration settings - everything worked fine until I viewed the plugins (?) link. Now I'm unable to pull up my Login page??? Any help? This is the return I get:   ( I didn't change a thing)???

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /coppermine/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

OK, MY BAD GUYS! Maybe if I just read a little futher I wouldn't be typing this now. But for what it's Worth to all others - Delete the "hta.access" folder from your Coppermine folder and all will be resolved!!!!

Thanks for coming back with the solution, but it might not be the appropriate solution for everyone, since they might have other useful settings in .htaccess. It seems in your case you enabled the search engine friendly plugin, which creates the .htaccess file. In that case, the solution would be to uninstall the plugin. I don't understand why you got the error message you got, but I just wanted to point this out in case someone came across this thread. ;)

I'm having the same problem, I deleted my plugins, but it's still saying:

"You are not authorized to view this page
You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied."

I went to Plugins -> and deleted them from there.

Make sure the gallery folder and the files in it are world-readable.

I've checked it all, and it's all ok. I done the same thing as the girl who started this post, I activated the plugin. It was working until I done that. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Did you delete .htaccess?

nellyhq

I had the same problem as both of these users.  After using the plug in manager it immediately goes to a 403 Forbidden error.  So I deleted the .htaccess file, but still somewhere the links are being sent to the "friendly" urls now, which do not exist.  So I descided to play around with the .htaccess file and figure out which line was making it throw a fit....

Options FollowSymLinks SymLinksIfOwnerMatch

This line makes it error on my server. I do not know the purpose of this line, however it does not work for me.  I deleted the line and everything "appears" to work A OK right now but.... who knows what just got cut out.

I am now getting a 500 internal server error though when trying to load the plugin manager ???
