Hi,

I don't use the intermediate pictures anymore. How can i delete them to gain disk space ?

Thanks in advance for your response,

Mika.

Joachim Müller

take a look into "resize pictures" in admin menu (disable the creation of intermediates in config before).

I don't find what i want...

there is "Delete original size photos" or "Delete titles" or "update thumbnail" or "upade full sized pictures" but nothing like "delete intermediates pictures..."

Help please.

Joachim Müller

hm, you could always delete the files called "normal_XXX.jpg", but that's probably not what you had in mind...

Ok ...

... can you explain how Cpg use the " albums/ " directory !?

I have 141 folders (for 175 pictures) with stranges names like wpw-01, wpw-05, wpw-32, wpw-fd ...

(i use the xp wizard to publish my pictures).

... is there a way to easily find and destroy all intermediates pictures ?

Thanks,
Michael.

Joachim Müller

the intermediate files are stored together in the same folder as the fullsize pics and the thumbnails - they just differ by prefix. Be default, the prefix is "normal_" (but can be changed in config). This means: if you uploaded foobar.jpg as fullsize pic, you'll find in the same folder a file called thumb_foobar.jpg and normal_foobar.jpg. If you set in the config that you're not going to have intermediates anymore, you can savely go through the folders and delete all files called "normal_*.jpg" (you could of course write a little php script that'll do this job for you).

If you disable intermediate pictures in the config you can safely delete all pics starting with normal_

If it is a general wish I could add an option to delete intermediate pictures  :)

Ok Gaugau, but can you explain why i've so many folders !!

i've send my 175 pictures in 3 or 4 times, using Xp Wizard and Cpg has created 141 folders !?

Thanks,
Michael.

I think i'll be great to add this to "resize pictures" module !

And a function to clean the "albums" folder : it'll search for any orphan picture (a normal_ or thumb_ picture "alone" ) !!

I'm not a good programmer but i guess that it will be easy for a programmer like you !

Ok, thanks for that !!

BUT ...

It there a way to move pictures from a folder to another one ... whitout lost informations in Cpg ?

Thanks,
Mika.

Joachim Müller

this has been discussed a million times over: the database keeps track of your pics, the human doesn't have to. Coppermine let's you move pics, albums, categories (inside the database). The files stay where they are. We (the dev team) won't support moving files untill somebody comes up with a real good explanation why it should be necessary.

In other words: no, there's no such feature, and there probably won't be such a feature in the future.

in the 'resize pictures' utility, which you can get to from the admin menu.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here
