Random Picture?

I have a site which is using coppermine for the photo album.  I would like to do a random picture, or a recent picture on a page that is not a part of the coppermine album.  I know with Coppermine's close cousin, phpbb, there are mods out there that let you pull pieces of functionality and place them on other php pages, without being confined to bb directories, does anyone know of something like this, or how I can at least just show a random picture on my root index?
