I'm not sure , but may be it's cookie issue ! did you edit your cookie path under config (take look at XXXX_config table and find "cookie_path" the value should be "/").
after comparing your cookie with mine and also coppermine demo I found a missed "%3D" before your site name under that.
- it's good if you can give us a screenshot of XXXX_config table.

edit: sorry , it's not cookie issue , as if it was you couldn't login
But I'm still worrying about missed "%3D" ???

Hi Bmossavari,

Im a little bit lost with your comment... Do you still need a screenshot of my XXX_config table? What's the issue with the %3D" missing?

Thanks...  ???

IM SORRY FOR BEING SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS, but Galeria4x4 is a free public site online since 28-APR-04, with 11,820 photos and more than 300 frequent users. For me, starting over again is not an option...  :( :'(  I appreciate all your help, I know is not easy giving assistance to so many users, for free...

SOMETHING IS GOING ON... I REVIEWED ALL THE USERS AND I FOUND OUT THAT I registered a different administrator name 2 years ago. I only have 3 administrators, a friend and me with 2 different user names. My friend and I never could login as administrators (with my "frequent" admin user name)... however, I tried to login with my oldest admin name and... IT WORKED!!! I now can manage my gallery (with the old admin name)... what could happen with the other 2 administrators? They appear as administrators on the user list! Could a hacker attack affect only those administrators?  ???

;D

PROBLEM FIXED!!!

1) I logged in with my first admin name (the first one I created when I first installed Coppermine).
2) I entered into users, and checked out my second admin name... There is a drop down menu and below check boxes listing the diferent user groups. The main "drop down" menu was not "Administrator", but rather one of the other groups. Administrator was checked below.
3) I figure it out that could a problem, so I selected ADMINISTRATOR in the main drop down menu, and un-checked the box of the administrator group below.
4) Logged out with my first admin name.
5) Logged in with my second admin name.
6) ITS WORKING NOW!!!  ;D

Thanks to all for your valuable help!!!

I have the same issue, basically, but I only have ONE admin log-in... So, I can't get into it to check the permissions because I can't get into it at all.  It really APPEARS to me to be a cookie thing, because when I log-in, even if I choose "remember me"... when I click Log-In it seems all good, except I'm still not logged-in.  When I click "Log-In" again, the fields are blank... so it obviously didn't remember me.

I'm fairly certain that this is an issue with my computer, not the script, but I'm afraid that if I'm having these issues, others may be, as well.  I've tried both IE6 and FireFox.

Any thoughts?

Sami

- yes this is cookie issue
- your site did not respond (you have a server problem or somthing)!!!! ???

man, this is so weird.

So, my admin buttons just finally showed up after using the search feature and getting to the results.  When trying to access certain admin features, such as "config", "users", and "admin", it says that I don't have permission.  When you rollover the @ symbol one option is "Logout: DjMikeWatt", thus proving that I am still logged in.  Also, "User Mode" is available, which implies that this log-in has admin rights.  So, it seems weird that it knows I'm logged in, knows that I'm an admin, but still won't let me access admin features.

Anyone wanna register/log-in and see what happens to you???

- I still couldn't get your site !!!
- can you give us screenshot of your cpgXXX_users table of your database?

I can't because it's set-up on a server that I do not have access to.  The script came free with my hosting account but it's actually installed on a different server than the hosting server that I have access to.

I DO have a server that I can access that has MySQL... I could set it up "by hand" like most of you did... it is just a little scary to me to do that... and it requires a lot more work than the little "install" button I clicked to have my host set it up automatically.

Sami

so here is your problem auto installed CPG , it's not recommanded , most of them are buggy
installing proccess of coppermine is realy easy 1,2,3
1.you need to copy all the file to your webspace (to public_html or subdirectory)
2.you need to create empty database and a user with full permission on it.
3.simply run "install.php" , follow instruction and ....vala

after all you should look at that table to figure out what's going on , ask your HOST to give you the access (actualy you can find your database's name , username  and password from include/config.inc.php) to the database

I'm going to try to set up a new installation myself.

I think I can do it! lol - I'll keep you all posted.  This is going in (for now) at http://www.mikewattsplayground.net/coppermine_db

DjMikeWatt

Okay, check it out...

You were totally right. It was simple!  Here is my one question...

I currently have it installed 2 layers deep (i.e. http://www.mikewattsplayground.net/coppermine_db/cpg148/script files.  Is that going to be an issue? Will it need to be located directly inside the "coppermine_db" folder?

Otherwise check it out, let's see if this one is working any better...

Personally, I would avoid using folder names that have the version numbers. What happens when you upgrade? ;)

Whoa.  This thread got kinda long . . .

It looks like joelgomez figured out why it wasn't working at first - the primary group was not "Administrator".  If "Administrator" is available as a checkbox below, it seems to me that it should give the user who checks that box admin privileges.

I'll post a new thread on the bugs board to summarize this thread, so a supporter can look into this bug and write up a fix at some point.  Here it is for reference: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=32781.0

I think I'm still having this problem with 1.48. When I try to log in as "admin" I see the screen that says welcome admin as if It recognizes me, but then it redirects to a regular main screen where I have the option to log in again. I am NOT actually logged in as I have no option to see my profile or log out. The only solution I have found is to use the "I forgot my password" option and let Coppermine go through the process of sending me a new password **which works**, but when I change my password back to what I want it to be it only works for a few times and then I'm back to not being able to successfully log in again. Do the forgotten password thing and I can get in... Any ideas?

DjMikeWatt

I'm just a user, as you... but I suggest trying from a different computer, maybe at work?  My laptop at home has all sorts of problems like you described, but at work, everything, for the most part, works great.

Also, try browser refresh... sometimes that helps me with Coppermine issues.  Also, for me, Firefox doesn't work as well as IE.

Hope that might help?

Paver

@terrymc1: Please start a new thread with your support issue.  Since you are not being logged in when you have the problem, it's a different issue than the one in this thread.

In your new thread, post a link to your site with a non-admin test user account.  If you can verify that the problem happens with the test user account as well, that would be helpful to know.
