Every few days I receive an e-mail from someone who is registered but is not able to login into gallery.
I know most of them have problems with web browsers and cookies but what steps in solving this problem do you suggest ?

Unfortunately, if your clients are having problems logging in due to problems with there web browsers and cookies, there is really nothing you can do to fix that. If your clients are using non-complaint browsers which do not handle cookie management correctly, I would sugguest that they use a more compliant browser. CPG relies on cookies and stores session data allowing a client to stay logged in.

Tell the users who complain to get rid of "Norton Internet Security" or similar pseudo-security apps, or make them review their cookie/privacy settings within those third-party desktop apps and/or their browser.
There's a growing tendency of users having crap like "Norton Internet Security" pre-installed on their machines with default settings. Those default settings are totally stupid. A cookie in itself is nothing bad. Symantec and other vendors of security-software make end users believe that cookies are a problem, security-wise. They are not. Unpatched operating systems and default browsers with default security settings (ActiveX enabled without prompt) and missing or outdated virus scanners are the real security threats for end users.
Welcome in the world of power-users who have to "fight" with the ignorance of newbish end users who don't understand the technology they're using. End users tend to rely on software that promises to automagically take care of everything instead of learning how technology works and subsequently using their own brains.
I recommend creating a FAQ page on your site that explains to end users what cookies are and how to properly configure their browsers and "Security Apps".

Excellent post! I raise my glass to you. :-)

@ blablabla: Unfortunately, this is the case when it comes to "security" software which promises to protect your computer... instead it nueters your computer.
