Unique data for Custom Fields

I am trying to get coppermine to require a unique name when filling in the custom fields for image descriptions.  Thus there would be no duplicate image descriptions within any given custom field.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, Does anyone know how to increase the number of custom fields for image description to more than 4?

Ah yes.  sorry about posting two questions in one thread.  Any word on whether or not it is possible to force unique data for any custom fields?
