I am running Coppermine in a folder off the route diectory.

Quote from: My web host company
ImageMagick is found on the servers and its path is:
/usr/bin/convert, however you should also try 'usr/bin'alone.

Neither option worked - nor did tricks like ..//usr/bin/convert.  The installation page could not recgnise a path.

The host company added:

QuoteIf this doesnt add correctly on your configuration webpage page, you may need to manually add it to the configuration file in your filespace, as the configuration page you use may cause an 'open_basedir error', and you may get an error such as ' cannot find /usr/bin/convert'

For the moment, I have Coppermine working with GD2 - but I have been told that ImageMagick is preferable, so ideally I would like a solution.  Is there a way I can configure the path manually without using the install page?

Who said so? GD2 is fine.

If the executable is located at /usr/bin/convert, then the path needs to be set to /usr/bin/, as you're suppossed to specify the path to folder the convert executable resides in. If /usr/bin/ doesn't work for you, ask your webhost if permissions have been set for the user the webserver runs under. Not a Coppermine issue nor a thing we could help you with, ask your webhost for support if you really must have ImageMagick. However, I recommend using GD2.

Yes, leave the path empty during install. You can set it up later at any time in Coppermine's config and toggle between using GD2 and ImageMagick as well.
