Hi
I would like to have in my gallery an adult rated protection wich will force people to declare that they are above 18 etc.

I could prevet people to access the whole gallery or a category/album/picture

This will work with a cookie.... (maybe something like "adult=true")
If a person declared he his above a certain age the cookie will be set and he will have access to all the adult rated areas in the gallery

Thanks

Tranz

Although we're aware that Coppermine is used for adult content, I doubt that this will be included in the core code. Not that we are against people using Coppermine as such, but it would give Coppermine a certain image if it had an adult-content-specific setting.

That said, anyone is welcome to write a hack to do it.

Joachim Müller

Allow registered users only to access your page. Make sure to remind underage visitors to leave on your registration page (disclaimer). If this is not enough for you, I fully agree with Thu.

ArielTM

But only 1-2 pics from my gallery are adult ones...
and my gallery is a public one with no registered users....

Isn't there another option?

Then how about a mature flag? Or a violence tag? Or an R tag? This is an issue that needs to be dealt with. I look at it this way - Users who want to host pornographic material with coppermine do so. And you have no issues with it. Users who want to host non-adult material on coppermine do so, and you have no issue with it. However, within certain community websites, there exists a need to have adult content alongside "G" content. And yet, that poses an issue, because even though users are free to use coppermine for adult websites, giving an option to filter it out would give you a certain "image"?

I run a graphics community website. Some users prefer to draw buildings, some creatures, and some.......the human figure. Nudity comes up. I want my site to be work/family safe, and my users do too. I have no convenient way to filter my images, short of giving each and every user who manually tells me that they are 18+ access to the "adult" sections of the gallery.

You've already stated that you're aware of users using coppermine for adult websites - And I highly doubt someone looking to use coppermine for "adult" images would need a feature to filter them out. This is a feature that is needed, and ironically it's not needed for users that want to host "adult" websites  ::)  It's for those that run communities and want to keep them open and safe for everyone interested in said community. Now that I think about it, I see no use for this feature for those that wish to use your gallery to host pornographic material.

Video games give rating for parents to filter them by content, movies give a rating so that we can filter content, and even everyday shows on TV give a rating so we can filter them for content. They're not supporting said content, they're acknowledging the content. And yet, you feel by acknowledging mature content you'd be given a certain "image"? C'maaaaan. This is a feature that's been asked for countless times by many users, and it's uses go far, far beyond the "pornographic" industry. As I've stated, I don't even see a use for this feature within the pornographic business. This is for the community runners like me and the above user, who may only have a few images that while they may belong, just don't belong to the general public.

However, in my oppinion, it should not be an "Adult" or "Mature" or "18+" flag or anything, and I'm feeling that that may be why you're shying away from this feature. In my oppinion, this should be implemented as a "Flag Settings" feature. Implement flags on the back end and give the admin an option to use custom flags. Lets say for my gallery, I want to have a "Nudity" flag, a "Violence" flag and a "XXX" Flag. To add these, I just go to the backend of the gallery, type these into the "custom tags" field, hit apply, and then when a user uploads an image they have radio buttons for said flags that I have set that they can check prior to uploading.

It's a complex feature, but there's no denying that it's needed. And if implemented the way I've described ( which may be hard to understand, I admit ), it frees coppermine from getting a certain "image" that some people seem to fear. A filter system with custom flags that can be added by the admin for the user to select prior to uploading an image, would, in my oppinion, be an amazing feature for coppermine, and I'm sure the community would agree.

Nobody has anything else to add to this? Perhaps since adding a custom filter system is different than adding adult rated protection I should give it it's own thread? I have a feeling that the thread being blatantly labled as adult may be giving this feature a bad light.

Joachim Müller

Well, this thread (as all other threads on the feature requests board) is a suggestion for a feature. It may or may not be taken into account. The todo list of developers already is very long. There's no saying if it is going to be done. If you want it badly, you'll have to code this for yourself. Your contribution would of course be welcome and might be added in the future. At least it makes it more likely.

I know this is an old topic, but seeing that it's the only topic that covers what I need (see previous request), I'd like to ask, is anyone working on something in this manner?

Otherwise, how would I be able to do something like this? Any pointers?

i would love this too as I also run a graphics community with 99% none-nude drawings but some people draw nudes and I want to be able to have those images only available to registered users.

Such a system would be quite a big hack I think as it is essentially giving the same sort of permission system that albums have to all individual images.

SoftDux

Could anyone write such an addon / module?

Tranz

Perhaps. I think you need to post to the Looking for Freelancers / Paid help if you want this feature anytime soon.

nickfzx

I have just posted in looking for paid help asking for this...I offered an initial $50...I encourage the other people in this thread to chip in something until a developer has enough incentive to build the mod.

here is the thread:

If all the people who want this chip in we can share the cost and get this made for the benefit of the whole community and ourselves.

SoftDux

This sounds like a great idea, but after some rude introductions, and a lot of rude replies I saw to other people's post (not on topic), I don't know if I want to become part of this community. I get the feeling that a lot of people don't realy like helping  / supporting people, and I most certainly don't want to be a burden to them.

Coppermine seems like a great product, and it has a lot of good reviews and implementations, but if you don't like newcommers to the community to ask questions, then why do you even bother to support them? P.S. this comment isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but rather to quite a few people.

It's sad to know that I have discouradged my client about using Coppermine for their project. The support I give to my clients is only as good as the support I can get from my peers. We implement a lot of OSS scripts & project, and most of these rely on community forums / blogs / wikis for support.

P.S. I'm going to "monitor" your thread and see how it progresses. I just don't want to invest money into something where people are so rude and help so scarce

louis_chypher

Whiles its not perfect. It does what I wanted. Feel free to add on/modify to suit your requirements.

this mod is actually not close enough to what i need...which is the ability to tag individual images as mature regardless of what album/category they are in.

more details in my paid help thread linked above.

Could then the Coppermine Team consider having age restricted categories?
