help with modification is needed

Hello
I'm brand-brand new to using coppermine and, actually, brand new to php/html as well

I'm trying to change smth in the appereance, without changing codes.I wanted to change smiles and some pics from a theme, I've just replaced files needed and renamed them.

But there wasn't any changes.

Could someone tell me where can be a problem?

I modified a pic from the heading, the yellow one,and a smile.it is supposed to look like

In the source I can't find a gfx named left_top.gif
Either overwrite the gfx you've used as base (using its name) or change that in the template.

Also it's not recommended to modify themes in its location. Rename the directory (fruity -> eg. my_custom_theme) and adapt the pathes in template.html. If you don't, it may happen that you overwrite your theme when upgrading.

If I understood you correctly, i did the same. And still, from what pic then goes that yellow part,if it's not in the source??
