Can anyone tell me, Why do they join ?

I've seen from the time I installed coppermine, to now, there are some people out there joining my gallery from time to time and I know they do not need to be there.

JUST A SAMPLE
nick: pojsngS ... emails: pojsngS@gmail . com
nick: gbghd ... emails: gbghd@gmail . com
nick: 9u3hr2893 ... emails: 9u3hr2893@gmail . com

I do have members in the gallery, but only Clients.
even if you google the nick or email 95% of the time you can find them in a coppermine gallery some where as a user.

What are they doing ?

they join to spam comments

They can't know wether you allow comments for registered users, so they even join to find out even if you have commenting turned off. If you don't have spam issues, just ignore the invalid accounts or enable registration approval by the admin.
What you're experiencing is a phenomenon not only applicable to coppermine, but all similar apps that allow user registration and interaction.

Thanks, I ban the IP's

When I get a new user, I email them.
also don't allow users in if they do not reply to my email etc.

But my Clients email me info I know, so I know whos the Lamer!

IP banning is not a very good instrument to actually harm the spammers, with dynamic IPs, IP address spoofing and bot nets being available as technology for spammers. Don't bother and don't waste so much energy at keeping your userbase clear - it can't be avoided to have the user base cluttered if you allow registrations.
