I would like to add a category icon to different categories/albums,

Icon 1 - Category - Main Games
MGS 1 Icon - Metal Gear Solid

Is there an easy way to do this

SolidSnake2003

Can what I want done be done using that screenshot hack that was mentioned in a thread?

What hack? What thread? You might want to stop playing with the "Solved"-toggle: supporters won't look into this thread if you mark it as "solved".

Im sorry, I wasn't trying to confuse anyone.  I marked it as solved cause I thought I got what I wanted but it's not what I wanted.  I created an album under the categories, and added the icons to there, but it comes up through the thumbs.  I don't want the icons to come up as part of the gallery.  Is there a way to add icons to the list like the nopic, and other standard ones that comes with the script?

So far: understood.

This is where you're losing me: I don't understand what you mean.

You may want to illustrate your question using more words (and maybe the words we use in the docs to make sure we're talking about the same thing). Posting links and attaching screenshots to illustrate your question might help as well.
You still failed to do as I suggested: you haven't told us what hack you are refering to. Do as supporters tell you if you need support.

i have attached an image taken from my gallery.  I created an album under the specific categories called Category Icons.  I uploaded the icons into their albums, and it brings it up the icon in the edit category page.  What I would like is to add the icons without having to upload them like I do the screen caps, and other photos, and not show up in the Randon, or Last Uloaded files.

Im sorry that I forgot to mention what I was talking about in the previous post, this is the link to what I thought was a hack: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,34472.0.html

That's not a hack. The thread starter just made a mistake and corrected that. There is no code posted in that thread, so how could you possibly have used it? Forget that thread. Read the docs instead: what you're actually trying to do imo is adding category thumbnails. What I told the thread starter of the thread you refered to applies to you as well: you should post a link to your gallery for a start. I have told you so already. Board rules say so as well.
The screenshot you posted doesn't really clarify what you want to see accomplished. If you want custom category images, a link to your gallery and your custom theme as zipped attachment would be required to enable us to help you.

Okie dokie, sorry that I didn't add these earlier:

here is a link to download the theme, its too big to attach it.

sorry, hit the wrong button, if the moderators could please combine these two posts

OK, got the theme downloaded - works as expected for me - the only thing I could spot in theme.php are the changes you applied to the filmstrip. What else is suppossed to be different? Using your theme in my gallery I can see category thumbnails just fine.
I think what you're trying to accomplish is using category thumbnails for categories that don't contain actual albums with images in it, but only sub-categories. I sthat the case? If yes, then the answer is: sorry, that's currently a missing feature - you need at least one album inside each category that is suppossed to be represented with a category thumbnail.
Does that solve your question?
