Hello all!  you guys have been so helpful with this newbie!  I have what might be a humdrum repeat of a question, but i'm having trouble figuring this out.  A link or answer would be great!

Currently I have CPG1.2 at mydomain.com/gallery/
Then I have a phpBB running at mydomain.com/forum/

How can I set up coppermine to use the phpBB's usernames and passwords to have limited access to cpg through a particular user group?

Is this possible?

Joachim Müller

Integration with phpBB is possible, read http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/manual.php#integrating
Once integration is set up, you use coppermine's group manager to grant/deny rights to the groups you set up in phpBB.

Cool.  I'll read the manual and get on it!  Thank you for the advice! Can you have more or less user groups in one or the other.

I will end up having far more user groups in phpBB than in Coppermine.  Will this still be possible?

Joachim Müller

no, all user groups you currently have in coppermine will be lost once you enable bbs integration. Instead, all usergroups you have in phpbb will show up in coppermine's group manager as well. That's what integration is all about: when enabled, coppermine doesn't have a user management of it's own, but simply uses the one from your bbs.
