Good day.

I've installed a fresh copy of CPG and am attempting to bridge it to my forums. When I enable the bridge (cookies cleared each time) and attempt to log into CPG it redirects to my forum for login, I log in and it sends me right back to my CPG like it's supposed to, works great but I'm still not logged into the CPG.

I also attempted to change my Cookie prefix to / but then my site will not allow users to log into the forums.

Sorry to ask something that may have been answered on the forums but I've been reading for a couple days and can't find the fix.

Thanks in advance!

Nibbler

I get a message telling me I am banned.

You have been banned from this forum.
Please contact the webmaster or board administrator for more information.

You seem to be confused between cookie prefix and cookie path. The path should be set to '/' and the cookie names can be kept as default.

Nibbler,

Thanks for the quick response, you've always been helpful.

Now come's the tough part, your right I am confused.

I don't know thedifference between a cookie prefix and a cookie path.

Should I simply be setting my cookie prefix in CPG to /

CD69

And sorry for the ban problem, I fixed the account.

Nibbler

The cookie path specifies where on your domain the cookie is valid. The '/' here means that the cookies will be readable from all paths on the domain, so from both Coppermine and the forum which is what the bridge requires. The cookie prefix is just tacked on to the start of the cookie name. Your forum's data cookie is named "chitown-an_forum_data". That means the prefix is "chitown-an_forum".

So, the settings required are:

Cookie path: / (in your forum)
Cookie prefix: chitown-an_forum (in the Coppermine bridge manager)

You don't need to change the cookie name in Coppermine's configuration page; that is unrelated to bridging.

Thanks for the education Nibber!

I went through and made the changes you suggested to my forum. Once I changed the cookie path from /1fish to / i couldn't (nor my members) log into the forums any longers.

Once I went back into the db and changed it to 1fish everything was fine again.

Thoughts....

I did change the Cookie prefix to 'chitown-an_forum" in the Coopermine bridge and clear the cache once I made the changes.

Nibbler

You need to clear your cookies in your web browser after making the change.

...or rename your cookie by choosing another cookie prefix. This makes it no longer necessary for everyone to delete the cookie locally.

As always you folks are a huge help, everything is working perfectly!

Nibbler, thanks for sticking with me since I'm always a little confused  ;D

You've done some stuff for me in the past and it's always good when you help me out.

Have a good holiday all!

I like when I can say this....
