What are the basic much have mods for coppermine? also what mods do you have?

So far I love coppermine. I'll just need to work it into my site format when I have the time. But till then what are some must have mods that I should install? Or at least some mods that will jazz up my gallery without it looking WAY over done?

install coppermine "out-of-the-box", get used to running it.
Only install mods if you really need them, because a mod'ed install is very hard to upgrade (or you will lose all your mods). I strongly recommend to apply only mods that you absolutely need, not some fancy gimmicks just to have a lot of features.
