Hi

I am having a problem with the thumbnails for animated gifs. I have v 1.2.

I have read the threads concerning this problem, however, I am still unclear if the cause of the thumbnail distortion, for animated gifs, is because Coppermine does not support animated gifs.

Could you please tell me if animated gifs are supported with Coppermine? They seem to work ok, it's just the thumbnails.

Thanks. :)

Casper

Only if you have imagemagick.  But the thumbnails will suck, and will be a big filesize.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

OK. Thanks very much for your help. :) According to the other threads, there will be another way, in a future release.

Is this still correct?

Thanks again. ;D

There may be another way in the future - gif support had been removed from the GD package for legal reasons (the lzw patent Unisys was holding). As the patent expires, gif support may return to GD, but this doesn't help that much, because unless you're self-hosted, your webhost has to install a newer version of GD (with gif support) for you. Most webserver admins use the GD version that comes bundled with PHP, so you'll have to wait for some time. Nothing we (the coppermine dev team) or you (as a customer of a webhost) can do about this, you'll have to be patient...

Sorry to open this back up. :P

OK. I found out that my host does have ImageMagick already installed. :D I have gone to "config" and changed the "Method for resizing images" to ImageMagick. I then uploaded an image, but I am still having the same problem.  >:(

Take alook here:

I don't know why or what to do as I thought it would fix it! ???

Thanks. :)

in fact, animated gifs are not fully supported by IM. This is not a coppermine issue, if you want details I suggest you browse the ImageMagick support boards.

Ok thanks once again. :)

Would I be able to get around this problem if I created the thumbnails myself?

If so, what freeware/software would you recommend to do this with? to create thumbnails for animated gifs?

Thanks again. :)
