After reading through much of the Coppermine forum, I feel like I may be in a little over my head. Having little experience in programming, I thought I may have been able to use Coppermine as a 'drag and drop' script for a basic webpage I am trying to put together.

I successfully installed Coppermine from an available list of scripts through Fatcow. However I am now unable to gain access through Admin Login. I am taken to a panel that says "This Area is Password Protected. Please enter the password below." I receive an error "Error 401 - Authorization required. http........./login.php?referer=admin.php "

I am positive that I noted correctly the admin password given when initially installed. But I cannot gain access. Can anyone please advise.

Thank you.

Please understand that this section of the docs goes unsupported on the Coppermine support board - if you need more details on the webserver response codes, read up the excellent apache documentation or the Wikipedia list of HTTP status codes.

Please install Coppermine by following the documentation.

Just for your information: the login data of your Coppermine gallery may be different than the webserver's directory protection. Coppermine doesn't use a directory protection, so that's nothing we can support (your Coppermine gallery is like a safe in a house and you're currently stuck at the door - the directory protection).

Thank you for the very informative responses. As I said in my first post, I think I may be in over my head, what with little programing knowledge. Until I obtain help from someone who can 'drive' the system for me, I think I had better stay with the 'drag and drop' facilities provided by FatCow.

Coppermine does look to have excellent capabilities, but with my limited knowledge, I fear I would become hopelessly lost once I get through that door.

Again, thank you for the rapid and helpful replies. It is greatly appreciated.
