I just upgraded my gallery last night and have spent half of today trying to figure this out to no avail.

I had about 6, or so, quicktime videos posted on 1.4 and they worked fine.
(I uploaded them)

After my upgrade to 1.5.26, none of the videos work. I just get the quicktime icon, and when you click on one, a blank area.
(No box, no sound, no picture. It's as if nothing was ever uploaded)

Example:

I've been scouring google -and these forums- and found that many people have had this issue, but the fixes I've seen aren't working for me.

I tried using this:
Flash Media Player plugin with visual integration (play flv/mp4/mp3/aac files)
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,62704.0.html

The plugin isn't doing anything, that I can see, and I realize that it's because I need to use flv files.
That brings me to issue #2

I took a video, converted it to flv, and tried to upload it for the purpose of trying the plugin and discovered that I can't upload videos anymore.  Flv upload failed.

Tried to upload MOV again. Failed.

Tried to upload a photo. Worked fine.

I get a weird looking white box after the video fails. Inside Error, the name of the gallery, the names of the navigation links, then, at the bottom, "Error: You don't have permission to perform this operation."

Example:

In one of the forum threads, one of the mods here stressed reading the docs about permissions. Did that. All of the CHMOD permissions were correct, but for good measure, I reset them anyway. Tried to upload a video. Failed.

I'm not php/code savvy at all (which is why I like Coppermine -it's been fairly simple for me to follow), but this time I'm really stumped. Can someone tell me if there's something I need to check or adjust since this issue has come up so many times already? And if possible, in simple terms? I'd really appreciate it.  :)

I should also add that when I use a direct link to any video that's in my gallery, it works on a separate page. It just won't show up at all inside the gallery. I'm still hunting possible fixes on the board, but I wanted to get some input. Thanks. :)

Found another thread on the issue where someone was told to:
"set the upload_max_filesize in the php.ini to a higher file size"

Just spoke to my host and was told that since I'm on a shared
server, it was impossible to go any higher than this unless I get
a dedicated server:

safe mode = Off (cannot adjust)
memory_limit = 256M (MAXIMUM)
max_execution_time = 30 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
max_input_time = 60 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
post_max_size = 64M (MAXIMUM)
upload_max_filesize = 64M (MAXIMUM)
enable_dl = Off (cannot adjust)

...Really hoping that this isn't my particular problem...  :(
Still looking thru the threads, though.

If uploading video files (i.e. large files) fails via the upload forms, you should upload them via FTP and then use the batch-add interface to add them to an album: http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/uploading_batch-add.htm#batch_add_pics

I suggest to replace your existing Quicktime video files with mp4 or flv files and use the Flash Media Player plugin, as embedding video files directly frequently causes issues, as you already noticed and can read in several (bug) threads in our board.

Thank you for your help, Andre.  :)

I tried adding a video to the albums via FTP, but I didn't remember
to do the batch add. Instead, I tried to manually change the .mov to .flv
in the video path and save. -Caught a critical error, saying the gallery
wouldn't allow it. The files aren't very big (each file is only 4 minutes
or less and about 500x560 or less), but they're surely being difficult!

I'll give your advice a try and cross my fingers. :D

It worked perfectly. Thank you, Andre!  ;D

I'm not sure how to mark this solved. If there's a button, I don't see it.
Sorry... But thank you again!
