folder chmods impossible, what can I do?

Hi!

I used Coppermine build 1.2.1 for a while and today upgraded to the latest version. I have a problem now which probably was also before but it occured to me just now:

1) 1.2.1 build used to make folders for userpics with username "nobody" seen in the unix directory listing
2) now I cannot chmod or move the directories since they are all as below:
-rw-r--r--    1 nobody   nobody          1 Aug 13 04:39 index.html
3) I'm using a webhotel so I am the master user, but I dont have root previlidges and the webhotel support instructed me to contact this forum
4) So, can anyone help me please

what is actually your question? You won't have to touch the userpics folder during the upgrade process at all - everything should be fine. Please post in more details what the actual problem seems to be.

I'm sorry for not addressing the real question properly. But here it comes:

1) The new version of coppermine uses my username when it creates folders. The old one used username "nobody" and when it created the userpic folders that the current users use they all are owned by "nobody" and have only read previlidges to other users (such as myself).
2) This results that when the new version tries to save something in the old userpic directories, it fails because it now uses my username and not the "nobody". So now i have a few directories that i cannot change and the users cant write their files into becauser of this username/chmod conflict that the versions have.
3) Is the only way to correct this to DOWNGRADe to old version, delete the directories --> upgrade to new one and restore the photos and users manually?

Ask your host to CHOWN the userpics directory to set you as file owner.
