Hi

I had uploaded 217 images and put them in the correct album. I realized that I wasn't happy with the descriptions and keyword and redid them at my local image database and then uploaded them all again overwriting the files that was already uploaded to Coppermine. But the description and keywords haven't changed. What do I need to do to update all the images?

I tried the update thumbnails and resized images in the admin tools, but first of all I had to update all 416 files in the archieve and second it didn't seem to change anything in the changed files.

Do I really need to delete them all and then upload them again or do I miss something?

Thanks for your time!

And just a second question that I just came to think of.

The original file that is uploaded. Once it has created the NORMAL and THUMBNAIL images, can I then delete the original. That would save a lot of space :-)

1.  One question per thread.

2.  You need to edit the descriptions via Coppermine or by using a tool like phpMyAdmin.  Comments, descriptions, etc, are in the database; replacing the files doesn't do anything to the data stored in the tables.

3.  No, you can't delete the original images.  This has been posted before.  Please search before posting.

There are no stupid questions

Sorry, I'll remember the one question bit.

My description is not entered in Coppermine. It is entered in Photoshop and then Coppermine automatically converts the description etc to be used in Coppermine. Therefore in order not to do everything twice I only correct descriptions, keywords locally and then I would like to be able to upload the same photos again and have Coppermine update the files with the new info.

But I guess that is not possible yet, so I have to delete it all and upload again. Correct?

No, you are right, but I figured out that Coppermine has a function in the Admin Tools, that deletes the original size photos and replace the file with the smaller one created by Coppermine.

what version of coppermine are you refering to?

1.3.2. - where I added a small code found in this forum, that makes Coppermine use description and keywords entered in Photoshop

link to mod you're refering to please. Small code changes can have a large impact, especially when fiddling with the overall database structure.

Finally found it!

IPTC -> Title & Keywords mod?

Don't know how to link to a certain thread, but that is the title.

But I now have 1482 images in the database without any problems what so ever, so I am quite sure it is not the mod

you link to a page by copying the url in the address bar and paste this url into your posting, shouldn't be too hard.
Anyway, here goes: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=692.0
Haven't looked in detail into the mod, but I guess you have to escape the single quotes in it...
