Hi alltogether,

I need some help...

Today I have upgraded my Coppermine-Version 1.1.0 to the latest 1.3.2. Everything works so far, but now I have albums and thumbs displayed unter the display of categories on my startpage. I searched around in this forum and found tipps to avoid displaying albums under categories by selecting NO at the line "show first level albums... " on the config-page.

Now my problem begins. I dont have this line in my admin-panel  :-[

The index.html in the "docs"-directory says this line should be there. I also didn't find some other lines in my admin-panel - about the film-strips, for example...
Please have a look at it:

I just can't find the reason for this, because I changed during the upgrade each and every existing new file. Does anybody know what could be wrong?

How can I now get rid of the albums on my startpage to display only the categories as it has been shown before the update? What should I do?

You find my gallery on this link:

I'd be glad if someone could help. Thanks in advance!

The admin panel is called config.php

Are you sure you did not confuse the instructions not to overwrite include/config.inc.php and instead left config.php?

Biggi

Oh noooooo - that's IT!
:-\\

But I saved the old config.inc.php. Can I just overwrite again? I'll give it a try...
Big thanks so far for this very fast answer!...

As long as your gallery works, don't bother with the config.inc.php file. It contains database connection settings and it seems you can connect to the database fine.

A new installation does not include the file, so there would be nothing to overwrite it.

Just overwrite config.php in the main folder of the gallery.

Biggi

Hmm - I think I misunderstood something. In the root-directory there is the new config.php. And in INCLUDE there is the old config.inc.php. Is it right this way? Then this wasn't the problem. I thought wrong. What a pitty - i thought THIS was the mistake. What could I also proof?

OK, let's get this straight: the coppermine package (any version) contains a file called config.php (inside the coppermine root folder). It does not contain a file include/config.inc.php (this file is not included in the package, it's being created on the server when you install coppermine for the first time - it contains the mySQL connection data). The file config.php in the root folder is the admin panel - when updating your coppermine version, you have to replace it with the new file from the package as well. Make sure to replace your language files as well (the "lang" folder) and the sql files (the "sql" folder) when ugrading/updating. Then run "update.php" in your browser at least once (won't hurt to run it several times though). You could use the version check tool (versioncheck.php) to determine if you have replaced all files during the upgrade process. This is all being described in the upgrade section of the documentation that comes with the new coppermine package; I suggest you re-read it carefully.

Thank you, Joachim! In fact there must have been mistakes, but I was'nt able to find out...
In the meantime I decided to set up a complete new database and moved all 270 pictures to the new coppermine. Everything works fine now and I'm amazed about the new features I now discovered! Coppermine has been unbelievable improved since version 1.1.0...  At this point big thanks to all developers and supporters! I'm glad that I decided to update it. It was really worth it!  :)
