I looked through the documents for intergrateing, and i know all the examples used were with PHPBB, but with the instructions given i was unable to find any of the files listed that needed editing. i have done addons and codes in BBS's before, however i am brand new to SMF and coppermine. so if anyone can help and walk me through it, i would be very thankfull

Nibbler

You edit bridge/smf.inc.php and include/init.inc.php - both are in your coppermine directory.

doyle

alright thanks that helped allot, but now i got this message when i go to the gallery url

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to SMF Board database !

MySQL said: Access denied for user: 'winterbr_smf1@localhost' (Using password: YES)

what do i do?

Nibbler

That means either you filled in the wrong information about your database or coppermine and smf are in different databases.

doyle

well yea, they were installed on diffrent ones. nobody said, nor did these instructions that they had to be in the same. theres nothing on it anywhere, i even double checked.

Nibbler

Maybe you are reading the wrong thing then

5.2.5 Keep Coppermine and bbs tables in the same database

You can move one into the database of the other, but you need some knowledge of phpmyadmin.

FernFerret

Quote5.1 Available bridge files
Coppermine can be integrated with the following bulletin boards (eg. Coppermine and your bulletin board will share the same user database).

Clearly you didn't.  section 5.1 in the manual

Edit: Sorry Nibbler, I had the window open for like 10 mins without checking for your post
Ferret

Nibbler

Well, that is a slightly misleading use of the word database there. That refers to sharing the same user information, not the same MySQL database.

FernFerret

yes i see that now.  I was just reading this post, (and about to convert myself) decided to go looking through the manual.  thanks for the correction

ugh i been working on this for two days now, and each try i give it dosnt work. i am not a heavy coder (yet) so i am not familair with MYSQL, i cant do this bleh.... i am so flusterd :-[

Nibbler

If you can wait for the next release of Coppermine, then with that you can bridge with seperate databases. There is no release date yet however.

doyle

ahh thats good to know... i think i may give it another go... now do the tables need to be in the same database with the same user and pass? or just share the same user and pass?

because if its just user and pass i need someones help with MYSQL , i am installing both SMF and the coppermine gallery with fantastico useing my server control panel

FernFerret

One thing to try... Download them then ftp them into place.  Fantastico could have a wrong file or something.  I've used it but prefer to know exactly what I'm putting there.  Yea, its faster, but I've had phpBB install wrong to where you had to login twice to offically log in.  Just a suggestion.
