No doubt I will feel very stupid when somebody answers this (I hope!), but here goes ...  ;)

I have just completed my first install of Coppermine for a young friend. She wants only invited people to view her albums, so I have set up a 'Registered' group and have disabled all privileges for Guests. I can see my two test albums when I login as admin, but when I log in as a test user assigned to the Registered group, I can see only the Category and album breadcrumbs -- no pictures.

My test user appears to be assigned to the correct group, and I cannot see what else I need to set to enable viewing of the test albums. The only thing of note is that clicking the 'Assigned Albums' button on the Groups page results in a message saying 'This group has no special access'. Is this where I should be setting something up? Can anybody see what I've missed or done wrong?

I'd be grateful for some help ...  ???

Hi Bob,

Check here in the documenation - http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#album_prop and see what you have in the "album can be viewed by" box.

Did you read the manual first???? Taking 2 minutes to backup your files can save you hours of wondering what you screwed up.

What's wrong with http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_allow_unlogged_access then, makes things less complicated, as you don't have to assign "can be viewed by" permissions for each album individually?

Gizmo

Yes, most definitely the better way Joachim. At the time I read this I was setting some restrictions on an album and had that thought in my mind. Ummm... something I have to try out, which setting have higher priority, Config settings or album properties. Off to test!

As you can see Bob, CPG is so versatile and LOTS of documentation. I hope you and your friend have a wonderful experience and might consider sharing an album or two. When I'm sitting in a boring meeting (don't tell my boss  ;)), I like to surf the CPG galleries that people post to see how they've modified it to suit their needs. Definitely check out http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=22690.0 to get some ideas and read up on making theme changes (hint: check the FAQ in the cpg1.4.x Support/cpg1.4 themes/skins/templates forum).

Cheers,

Billy

Thanks for your replies, guys -- I'm not sure whether I was suffering a glitch before, as it appears to be working now and I'm not sure what I've done that's different ... The docs you pointed me to are great for better understanding though.

It will be up to the young lady whose gallery it is whether to share, Billy. She's an Irish dancer and there is a lot of heated discussion about putting photographs of dancers on the web, even though they're completely OK. That's the main reason for her keeping it restricted to people she knows personally or by recommendation.

Regards,

Bob
