If a host your using only allows a database of 100 mb would this cause a problem for a site that using a gallery like coppermine?

So if you had 400 mb of photos in a gallery, would that mean the database is about 400MB?

Thanks in advance.

Basically i'm considering Godaddy as a host. But a database file cannot be larger than 100MB.

Oh, no. The files are not stored in the database. Text info that is in the db doesn't take that much space.

so 100 mb should be fine.

Nice gallery btw!

depends on the size of the gallery you're planning to create - 100MB should be fine for most users. As an example: my personal gallery that has 11806 files in 261 albums and 27 categories with 293 comments viewed 274057 times takes up 22 MB of space on the mysql database.
However, there have been issues reported in relation to Godaddy, so we can't recommend them.
