I have created a new user group however when I go into the groups and click on assigned albums it tells me that the group has no special permissions. I have gone through every section and read the docuentation as well as the FAQ and do not see anything that says how to add albums to user groups. How can I do this?

mikeyc

That really didn't help me.

What I want to do is have a section for staff members and regular members.
Staff members should post in the staff section. I would just like to use group permissions.

In the group section I want to assign albums to each group.

Tranz

You don't assign albums to groups, you assign groups to albums, that's why Nibbler's answer is correct.

DoubleSpeed

Is it possible to allow public view but restrict upload to members of a group which is assigned to an album?

I can only see how assign a group to an album/s however

Permissions for this album
Album can be viewed by  example group

I only seem to have the ability to give view permissions to a group rather than allow all to view and restrict upload to the group?

Can anyone help me with this?

Joachim Müller

you can't do that. If users belong to a group that is allowed to upload to public albums, then they can upload to all albums that have "visitors can upload" enabled. There's not a more granular upload permission scheme available.

DoubleSpeed

Are there any plans to provide this functionality in the future or is there a mod/hack available that would provide for this?

Joachim Müller

no mod existing. A more granular permissions scheme is planned for the future, no saying if or when it will be applied though.

OK thanks, are there any associated/known developers who are recommended by this project who would undertake custom paid for work to develop this functionality if I can't find another work around?

Joachim Müller

You could ask for help on the paid support board (read the sticky thread there first). I don't think though that you'll find someone who will be ready and able to accomplish this, as it would require a major rewrite of coppermine core code in many places.
