Database question

Now I am sure you guys are going to shout at me for posting this, I am sure it will have been asked a thousand times before, however I cant seem to find the answer. Now please consider that when you do start shouting at me that 2hrs  ago i didn't even know what coppermine was! Anyway...

Tonight I have install phpbb2 forum, mxbb and coppermin, it is my understanding that these 3 are all related in someway, Ok so everything installed no errors (im doing better than what I expected), by the way I have used the same database for all 3. So I register in the forum, I think go to the portal mxbb loged in with the details I registered with in the forum. It logs me in fine, great! thats just what I wanted it to do (at this point I am dancing round the room with joy), now for the final test..coppermine, in i go armed with my details that I registered with in the forum.....Coppermine wont let me in and brings me crashing nack down to earth. Now im no expert but if all 3 programs are useing the same database, does it not follow that a user only needs to register once? After all that is why I decide on the 3 related programs!

Anyhelp or advise you could give would be greatly recieved!

By the way I just tried the bridge wizard on coppermine and now when I try to login to coppermine I just get page can not be displayed....I guess I have to re install everything and try again? Sorry thats a silly question, of course I have to re install, as I cant log in as admin to do anything!

I guess it would help if I gave the urls?

Oh heck I really am in trouble here, I have just tried to re install coppermine and got a whole bunch of errors , I assume this is prolly due to dupicate tables in the db, so I am now faces with not only haveing to re install the coppermine but looks like I am going to have to delete and install all 3 again. I just hope that when I run that bridge thing again I dont get the same problem!

Right I have tried this 5 times now and everytime I get page cant be displayed after running bridge wizard and end up having to re installl the lot.

Test user account: some_testuser_name / the_password_for_the_test_user_account (I have just noticed after re installing for the 6th time, that coppermine does not have a register button, is my coppy faulty?) So I couldnt make a username for you...How stupid is that!! ... Can you tell I'm starting to get angry  now! Perhaps it would be best for me to bid you good night. I will have one more go in the morning and if it still dont work, I think I will bid it fairwell, at this stage it would appear that all it has done is waiste my time for 4hrs and as we all know time is money!

Your gallery needs to actually be bridged for me to help you. Your test user should be created in your forum - that is the whole point of bridging. You need to enter the correct data into the bridge manager, foo and bla won't work. I don't know anything about mxbb, it is not 'related' to Coppermine in any way. Having apps in the same database does not link them together any more than having programs on the same hard drive in your PC would. You need to use the bridge system for them to share login data.

ok the user is test and p/w is test, I really would appreciate some help with this, I have 10,0000 avatars and smileys that I need to put up and I cant start that until this issue is resolved, If it would help feel free to add me to msn @ germinus1@hotmail.com

Actually that username will be ready in about 10 mins after I have done my 12th install of coppermine. Think I could do it in my sleep now!

Ok I have done another fresh install, I mentioned in a previous post that there was no registration button for people to register and was told that there wouldn't be as that was the whole idea of bridgeing which is fair enough, however after doing another fresh install I notice that there is no registration link for users. Are we sure I dont have a faulty copy of coppermine?. I am off to do my 15th install of coppermine....wonder if I will be back in 5 mins!

Right I have installed yet again, no register link and also no admin tools when I log in as admin, I am starting to think that coppermine is more hastle than its worth.....please prove me wrong.

Ok I cant login as Admin, well it lets me login but then does not show me as loged in, still no register link, do you  think it would be best if I just knocked it on the head and looked for some other gallery software?

When I click login on coppermine page I get a cant be displayed error and the url is as follows....

http://avatars.h-fm.com/forums/login.php?referer=index.php as this would take a user to log in via the forums, or am I way off base here? Actually it does not make a blind bit of difference, I know this as I have tried to log in via forums and it does not work. Sheesh this is really complicated!

Right yet another install and yet again the same problem, I notice that help documents tell us that is there is a problem with the procedure we are to login via bridgemgr , .... well that is my problem as soon as i run bridgemgr it and then try to go back to it after runing the program I cant as when i click login I get the 404 which then leads me to yet another clean install.

First of all, stop reinstalling. You do not have a faulty version of Coppermine, user registrations need to be enabled in config for the register button to appear, as explained in the documentation.

It looks like you selected the phpbb 2.2 bridge when you are in fact using phpbb 2.0.2. You need to select the correct option for the version of phpbb you are using.

Thanks for the help, however it would seem I have lost all admin tools now, I sign in with Admin ID and get the welcome admin screen and then nothing, no admin tools and no sign of me even being signed in as admin.
