Hello,
i have finally decided to update my coppermine gallery from 1.3.2 to 1.4.4.
I followed instructions in the Documentation and updated gallery works.
I use czech lang file that comes with cpg144 package and I have strange problem with charset :
Czech special characters in category, gallery names and in comments are not showed correctly ffter gallery update.
I also tried English lang file with combination of various Character encoding, but problem hasnt been solved.
I am sure it depends on mysql database charset (SET NAMES...), but I dont know how should I correct it.
Would anyone be so kind and help me out?
Thank you very much, best regards M.

Problem has been solved.
I converted the czech language file from utf8 to windows-1250 and everything works well now.

Hi,

I have the same problem with my brazilian-portuguese language.
How did you converted  the language ?

Don't do as suggested, converting the language file is not the best idea. You'll need a converter/editor that is capable to convert the file.

Hi Gaugau,
Converter/editor? Could you give me more details?  Which one you recommend?
As I said in other topic, after the upgrade, I found problems to read some characters (ç,ã,ó,á,ô,õ,é,í,etc...) in my database. I already fix the problem in one gallery (www.cagarras.com.br/galeria) by retyping all characters but there must be an easy way to do it. I need to fix another one: www.clubedosmarimbas.com.br/galeria.
Both were invaded (cpg1.3.5) by hackers to pratic phishing.
Thanks for any help.

Which one you recommend?
Any editor is fine that is capable to handle utf-8. Go for notepad.exe if you want. Can't really recommend anything, as I (as a dev) have other preferences in editors as you (as a one-time user). It wouldn't help you if I told you which editors I use, as some of them are available in German only.
However (as I already said: converting from utf-8 to iso8859-1 is not recommended at all. Afaik you have already been told what you need to do on the other thread...
