Heya,

special characters in e-mails are scrambled. For example those characters:

ä Ä ö Ö ü Ü ß (german Umlaut characters)

as well as french accents, are scrambled look very oddly in e-mails when e-cards are being sent.

This includes *BOTH*, the user-typed message as well as the e-mail header generated by Coppermine.

For example, a french e-card, will have subject like this:

"Une carte électronique pour vous..."

Instead of:

"Une carte électronique pour vous"

This looked really ugly, and makes it a lot less appealing to send e-cards with language settings other then english.

As a workaround, if you cannot fix this problem, it would be a lot better to just surpress the special characters and
change them to their non-accented equivalents, such as changing é to e...

Thanks.

Greetings,
I am also having trouble with the swedish characters åäö when entered in an e-card. Is there a workaround for this?
thanks,

I have a slightly different problem with special characters and e-cards.

When e-cards are sent from our Coppermine gallery they seem to be fine.

I log e-cards to be sure (okay, it's after-the-fact) that nothing inappropriate is being sent.  I also send e-cards to our own customers, etc., so keep these as my record of having sent the message.

While punctuation characters are fine in the e-card itself, in the retained/logged copy the punctuation is strange.  For example, this is a snippet from the logged copy of an e-card I sent recently:

This isn't a big deal, and nobody sees this but me.  Any ideas how to fix this please?

Known issue, bug report still open and needs fixing.

Thanks for letting me know the status of this.  As I said in my posting, it's not a big problem -- I'm the only one who sees the funny characters.
