Suitability

Okay. I've read quite a few other posts and it appears that the most confusion expressed in this forum is with regard to suitability of Coppermine for a wide range of uses. I am in the same boat, but with a different application. I could spend hours if not days on trying to dig the answers out of the site, but then again, why not just ask those who know and have the experience and insight? So here we go:
I am wanting to start a new business that highlights and markets new artists and photographers and their work. We plan to market them; that is, provide them with a venue that hopefully with generate contracts for work, and it only makes sense to ALSO make their existing work (of choice) available for license purchase and download.
"IS GALLERY A GOOD CHOICE FOR THESE TWO PURPOSES; OR, IS THERE ANOTHER, MORE APPROPRIATE OPTION???"
