Hi.

I have, after a lot of mistakes 'cause not reading instructions good enough  :-[, finaly got my Coppermine up and running. As far as I can tell after doing several testings everything now is operating very good.

The big problem is that my head not is operating any more. ??? What I thought would be the easiest part is actuelly what I'm not able to manage: setting up categories/albums with the spesifications I want. Actually I'm totaly locked here, therefor I beg you for assistance. It wont help telling me to read any more - I'm not able to sort this out.

Think I should say what I want first:
*A gallery that everyone can see. Both "outside" and likewise clicking pictures, moving around.
*Everyone can registrate (registration must be a demand, no one should be able to uploade without), and then uploade pictures.
*Same rules regarding making comments, votes etc. (:registrered only.)
*No one being able to creat albums to be used only by them selves.
*When uploading the options should be x albums predefined/installed by album administrator.
*Administrator = me. No one else.
*No kind of permissions to be set by any user (but administrator.)

I simply do not even know if "category" is needed, or maybe albums is ok? Honestly I'm not even sure what the big difference is (at least not with the above kind of gallery.)

I would be extremly happy if it is possible to get a "go there and do that", I surely need it.

Thank you for reading all this. :)

In coppermine's config, enable Allow new user registrations. Groups control panel: set "Public albums upload allowed" to "yes" for the registered group. Create the albums you need. Go to album's properties and set "visitors can upload" to "yes" (this doesn't mean "everybody", but only "the groups you allowed uploading on the groups panel").

Groups control panel: set "Rating" and "Comments" to "yes" for the registered group. Set "Rating" and "Comments" to "no" for the guests group.

See above. The albums will turn up where you have set "visitors can upload" = "yes" on the album's properties.

4.1 Categories, albums and files

We have a strict "one question per thread" policy - you asked several questions in one thread. In the future, respect board rules. You started your thread on the "install" sub-board, although your questions are clearly permissions-related. Subsequently, your thread was moved, which caused additional moderation effort. In the future, start your threads on the corresponding board. The questions you asked are being covered in the docs and have been asked on the boards as well. Don't be lazy, don't expect to be spoon-fed: in the future, RTFM!

Ok, I considered as a matter of fact wether this forum or the one regarding install was the proper place for my posting. Because I was in some kind of instalation still, I landed at the other one. Now I understand that was incorrect. :(

Of course it was many question. Also that I see very clearly. Now! Hard to tell how, but I ctually thought of it as one "all over" question.

About being lazy, well you might of course think og it any way you please. But the fact is I did tons of reading. It all ended up a mess - I could not straight things out any longer. Not at all. No good feeling, I can assure you.

But as for the two first parts I stand corrected. I am very sorry for doing things the wrong way here. N ???ever intended to. But did.......

Of course I will be far, far more careful next time to secure posting correct - and asking 1 question.

And GauGau: Thank you so very much for helping me even if I came out wrong in this topic. Thanks!
