:-[ I maintain TWO installed CP galleries in one website. Somehow, and I dont know how... Logging in to BOTH galleries gives the error message file cannot be found... I checked the files and login.php is missing in BOTH folders.. I tried reinstalling login.php but the system wont let me. I made CHMOD   changes to be able to write into the folder and still it wont let me upload a login.php file.

Please tell me what to do... both galleries have extensive files already and view hits running to thousands.  :'(

Help.

What do you mean by that? Are you trying to use some sort of auto-installer like Fantastico? Don't! Get a fresh package from our downloads section, extract login.php from the archive and upload it to your server using your FTP app. If this doesn't work, ask your webhost for support.

No Gaugau. I am already running two galleries and have successfully installed both. My problem is I cannot login to both galleries... something is terribly wrong and i believe it might be because login.php is missing...

Can you please tell me what to do so the login panel will appear once again? :'(  Thank you

Will try to download, extract and reinstall login.php. Thank you.  :)

I tried installing login.php and was successful in doing so. however I now get this message when I try to access both my galleries:

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !
MySQL said: Lost connection to MySQL server during query

How do I go about this?

Webhost was able to work on the SQL error message and galleries displaying again but still it doesnt display the login panel and I get hold of this message:

The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

I have successfully uploaded the login.php and logout.php i have extracted from a fresh download version of coppermine INSIDE the CPGallery folder. Is there something wrong in what I am doing?

Look: a file-not-found error is just what the name suggests: the file is not where it is suppossed to be. The explanation of the error message you get should be pretty self-explanatory. Make sure that the file you uploaded is actually where it is expected (maybe you confused the folder structure in your FTP app). If you're absolutely sure that the file actually is where it is suppossed to be, then you'll have to ask your webhost for support: in rare cases, the file might be there, but the webserver might not have the needed permissions to display the file in the web browser. This might be caused by permission issues (CHMOD), ownership issues (CHOWN) or hardening patches applied to the webserver. BUT: as suggested, it is only very rarely the case that things are broken beyond repair by the user (that means you) and needs looking into by the webhost. Subsequently, make sure that you have done absolutely everything to solve this on your own before contacting your webhost.

Thank you so much. I have done everything you have said and my webhost have likewise extended help hence the SQL error message is now gone. I am back to my first situation: I have downloaded fresh copy of CP and extracted login.php and uploaded it to my cpfolder.

I know the error message means the file cannot be found by the system hence I have tried uploading not once but three different times already and the error messages still persist. I cannot login. There is no login panel. The system says there is no login.php BUT i can see the file in FTP and it is there inside the folder where it should be.

I will try to see what else I can do and if all else fails will backup my SQL and my albums and just reinstall. Thank you for your time.

Don't! Do as I suggested and contact your webhost instead. A fresh install doesn't make sense at all.
