I have just converted my forum from IPB 2.3.3 to SMF 1.1.4. The bridge was fine with IPB, now I need to bridge with smf, in it's self no problem, but......! Coppermine was originally installed in the ipb db. How can I switch to smf without loosing all my data in coppermine.

Tried so far:
Copied db lines from IPB db to smf db, edited config.inc.php but when bridged with smf cannot log in?

Using 1.4.10
It's nice to be nice.

Using 1.4.10
Which is not the most recent stable release. There is a reason why new versions get released. Upgrade!

Upgrading is not a problem, my question obviously is! I asked a simple question and get hit by smart arse answers. Does anyone stop to think that I may not like my site details plastered on BB's. SMF have there own gallery software addon, and although I have been a Coppermine user for now 3 years, this attitude is making me think again. No one would have answered me so curtly on the smf site.

Thank you for your time.

Disappointed, Bob

BTW Nibbler, you were not so unforgiving 3 years ago!

It's difficult to troubleshoot login issues blind, especially if you don't provide any details. Check cookie settings in SMF - local cookies should be disabled and subdomain independent cookies should be enabled. If the cookies are OK, then make sure Coppermine can read the cookie (look in the debug output for this). Then see if it could determine your identity, then check that it found a group for you.

I didn't have a fulltime job 3 years ago. ;)

OK thanks, I will do that and report back.

Ok, I have gone the other way and upgraded to 1414 first. Will report back when I have tried my first idea again.

Ok my report, it worked  ;D

To help others who may wish to do the same (ie switch from ipb 2.3.3 to smf 1.1.4) here are the steps I did.
Backed up ipb DB and albums folder + config.inc.php.
Backed up smf db!

Updated cpg 1410 to 1414
imported all db entries from coppermine to my PC
exported all db entries from coppermine to smf db
switched the cookies in smf to "subdomain independant"
opened coppermine from ipb, disabled bridging!
start bridgemanager again and bridge with smf.
close coppermine
change the details of DB etc in backed up config.inc.php to smf
with ftp program copy backed up config.inc.php  back to server
go to your smf site and start coppermine.

hey presto coppermine is now bridged with smf with all the data from ipb, and no pics, stats, albums missing  ;D
